ASTRO EVENTS – – JANUARY 2008

January 2008

January 2: Mars in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius. The New Year begins with a Star Wars clash between the celestial titans Mars and Pluto. Outside events and exchanges with others can make us feel less than festive during the first week of January, so it’s a good time to stay clear of any conflicted situations.

January 7: Mercury enters Aquarius. Our thoughts have more room to roam as Mercury arrives in Aquarius. Distances between us are bridged through electronic communications, but may become more frustrating after Mercury turns retrograde on the 28th.

January 8: New Moon in Capricorn. The first New Moon of 2008 is in Capricorn supporting business and commercial initiatives for the year ahead. This lunation corresponds with formally communicating intentions and business plans in writing to be followed by actions in the year ahead.

January 20: Sun enters Aquarius. The Sun’s arrival in Aquarius accents friendship and socializing in the month ahead.

January 22: Full Moon in Leo quincunx transiting Pluto. The Full Moon in Leo lights the way for Pluto’s passage from Sagittarius into Capricorn for the first time in 242 years.

January 23: Venus conjoins Pluto in Sagittarius. Venus merges with Pluto as the planet of transformation completes its final hours of a dynamic 12 year journey through Sagittarius. Venus’ close union with Pluto at this time could very well symbolize the power of the universal feminine working in concert with the changes associated with Pluto’s lengthy journey through Capricorn.

January 24: Venus enters Capricorn. Venus arrives in Capricorn providing us with a reality check regarding what we value and how much of ourselves and our relationships we expend in pursuit of our external goals. The passage of Venus through Capricorn reminds us that not all that glitters is gold.

January 25: Pluto enters Capricorn. With Venus as his leading lady, Pluto makes his long anticipated return to Capricorn for the next 18 years. If historical themes truly repeat themselves, then the United States will undergo a revolution unmatched since 1776, leaving us with no doubt that we live in interesting times.

January 28: Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius. Mercury’s first retrograde of 2008 can be best harnessed by pausing to reconsider and modify our plans in light of all the changes in the air.

January 30: Mars turns direct in Gemini. Mars moves forward after more than 2 months in reverse motion. This event gives us more impetus to step forward while continuing to review our plans and goals as Mercury remains retrograde for the next 3 weeks.
