Astro Events – March 2008

March 2008

March 4:  Mars enters Cancer.  The planet of action enters the cardinal sign of security and opposes transformative Pluto during the first week of March. Passions run deep and intense emotions spring to the surface. Discretion is the better part of valor in our relationships during the final weeks of the winter season.

March 7:  New Moon in Pisces. This month’s New Moon closely conjoins transiting Uranus in Pisces signaling that change is in the air as outmoded structures clearly no longer serve our personal and collective needs.  Yes, there certainly must be better ways and means to accomplish goals that are worth pursuing for all concerned.

March 12-14:  Venus and Mercury enter Pisces.  Vulnerability and compassion slowly return as Venus steps from the sign of the warrior into the sign of selfless service. This is a good time to make peace and mend fences after the fireworks of the Mars/Pluto opposition. Mercury will join Venus in Pisces on March 14 providing us with even more breathing room for our dreams and visions of a brighter tomorrow.

March 19-21:  Spring Equinox Sun enters Aries. The spring season arrives with brilliance as the Sun and Moon wax to fullness forming a cardinal cross to transiting Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Cancer.  As we take our first breaths in this new season, we are acutely aware that our world has changed in recent months, and there is little resemblance between our lives now and one year ago.

ASTRO EVENTS – - FEBUARY 2008

February 2008

February 1:  Venus conjoins Jupiter in Capricorn.  The hours just before dawn appear even brighter with Venus joining Jupiter to greet the Sun as it rises on the eastern horizon.  This event is an alluring prelude to next week’s Solar Eclipse.

February 6:  Solar Eclipse New Moon in Aquarius.  The Chinese New Year of “The Rat” is celebrated under this month’s New Moon. In the United States the air will be abuzz with Super Tuesday election results as Chiron closely conjoins retrograde Mercury encouraging the resolution of differences between winners and losers in the interest of moving forward.

February 17:  Venus enters Aquarius.  Venus returns to Aquarius just as the Sun is about to leave the sign of fellowship and Mercury prepares to turn direct making for a two day shift in this month’s energies paving the way for the Lunar Eclipse.

February 18:  Mercury turns direct in Aquarius.  Our communications with others can now resume with fewer delays and less frustration especially those dependent upon on electronics as a bridge.

February 18-19:  Sun enters Pisces.  The Sun’s transition from Aquarius to Pisces sets the stage for an imminent Lunar Eclipse in Virgo. Those with a planetary emphasis in the early degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius will experience these next few days more noticeably than others.

February 20:  Total Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Virgo.  A brilliant Lunar Eclipse amplifies the energies already set in motion under the February 6th New Moon of the Chinese New Year. It might be helpful for some of us to refer to events in our lives during last Lunar Eclipse on August 28, 2007.  Are we truly complete with all that was happening then?   Today’s eclipse represents a good time to enter 2008 in earnest.

ASTRO EVENTS – – JANUARY 2008

January 2008

January 2: Mars in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius. The New Year begins with a Star Wars clash between the celestial titans Mars and Pluto. Outside events and exchanges with others can make us feel less than festive during the first week of January, so it’s a good time to stay clear of any conflicted situations.

January 7: Mercury enters Aquarius. Our thoughts have more room to roam as Mercury arrives in Aquarius. Distances between us are bridged through electronic communications, but may become more frustrating after Mercury turns retrograde on the 28th.

January 8: New Moon in Capricorn. The first New Moon of 2008 is in Capricorn supporting business and commercial initiatives for the year ahead. This lunation corresponds with formally communicating intentions and business plans in writing to be followed by actions in the year ahead.

January 20: Sun enters Aquarius. The Sun’s arrival in Aquarius accents friendship and socializing in the month ahead.

January 22: Full Moon in Leo quincunx transiting Pluto. The Full Moon in Leo lights the way for Pluto’s passage from Sagittarius into Capricorn for the first time in 242 years.

January 23: Venus conjoins Pluto in Sagittarius. Venus merges with Pluto as the planet of transformation completes its final hours of a dynamic 12 year journey through Sagittarius. Venus’ close union with Pluto at this time could very well symbolize the power of the universal feminine working in concert with the changes associated with Pluto’s lengthy journey through Capricorn.

January 24: Venus enters Capricorn. Venus arrives in Capricorn providing us with a reality check regarding what we value and how much of ourselves and our relationships we expend in pursuit of our external goals. The passage of Venus through Capricorn reminds us that not all that glitters is gold.

January 25: Pluto enters Capricorn. With Venus as his leading lady, Pluto makes his long anticipated return to Capricorn for the next 18 years. If historical themes truly repeat themselves, then the United States will undergo a revolution unmatched since 1776, leaving us with no doubt that we live in interesting times.

January 28: Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius. Mercury’s first retrograde of 2008 can be best harnessed by pausing to reconsider and modify our plans in light of all the changes in the air.

January 30: Mars turns direct in Gemini. Mars moves forward after more than 2 months in reverse motion. This event gives us more impetus to step forward while continuing to review our plans and goals as Mercury remains retrograde for the next 3 weeks.

ASTRO EVENTS —- DECEMBER 2007

December 2007

December 1: Mercury enters Sagittarius. The planet of communications helps lift our spirits in jovial Sagittarius for the next 3 weeks.

December 5: Venus enters Scorpio. The planet of love, beauty, and sensuality enters the sign of human magnetism and is joined by her sensitive sister, the Moon, on the same day. This deeply feminine meeting makes us aware of attractions we might otherwise not have noticed but should be cautious about revealing.

December 9: New Moon in Sagittarius. The Sun and Moon merge in the midst of an auspicious Sagittarius pageant highlighted by the imminent conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto near the Galactic Center. Whatever our earthly fears and uncertainties, it’s hard not to feel that “Something wonderful is about to happen” as we celebrate not only the holidays but also the 30th anniversary of the release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the discovery of Chiron. What a difference three decades can make on our small planet.

December 11: Jupiter conjunct Pluto at 28 degrees Sagittarius. Realizations of greater truths and universal governing principles take center stage both personally and collectively: What goes up must come down, and what falls is certain to rise again in some new form. It’s not really about whether things are getting better or worse as much as the necessity to allow for the restoration of balance, equilibrium, and trust.

December 18: Jupiter enters Capricorn. Jupiter bids farewell to its own sign and paves the way for a succession of planets to enter Capricorn during the next month. With so much focused in the sign of responsibility and institutional authority during 2008, it is certain that changes and reform are in store for any ivory tower out of touch with its constituency.

December 19: Saturn turns retrograde in Virgo. On the eve of a holiday gathering in Capricorn, its ruling planet Saturn retraces his steps until early May of 2008. Saturn retrograde is a good time to review what we have experienced and learned since it entered Virgo last September.

December 20: Mercury enters Capricorn. Our thoughts move from festivities to the more traditional and practical as Mercury enters Capricorn. Year end tax planning and how to pay for seasonal shopping are just two of many timely considerations as we complete the year.

December 21: Winter Solstice Sun enters Capricorn. The dawn of the winter becomes a busy intersection with the Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter gathering in the first 3 degrees of Capricorn with Pluto soon to follow. It’s hard to believe this will be just another ordinary winter season as major changes loom on the horizon.

December 23: Full Moon in Cancer. A brilliant Full Moon just after the darkest day of the year in the northern hemisphere may bring a welcome “luster of midday to objects below…” However, our “long winter naps” will have to wait, as this lunation aligns with Mars in Cancer to oppose three planets in Capricorn along with Pluto making for more restlessness than silence in our nights.

December 31: Mars retrograde enters Gemini. Mars greets the New Year by stepping from Cancer back into Gemini where it left off on September 28th. Retrograde planets may coincide with us slowing down in our lives, but Father Time steps ever forward, undeterred in his march.

ASTRO EVENTS – NOVEMBER 2007

November 2007

November 1: Mercury turns direct in Libra. After 3 weeks of considering all the options, Mercury moves forward in support of making decisions and initiating communications regarding whatever we have been deliberating about.

November 8: Venus enters Libra. Harmony, beauty, and balance are truly among the finest qualities in life, and Venus in Libra gives us the opportunity to experience these qualities whether in our relationships or in the sights and sounds that we find most aesthetically pleasing.

November 9: New Moon in Scorpio. The New Moon in Scorpio forms a pleasant water trine with Mars in Cancer and Uranus in Pisces. Our sensitivities are heightened as emotions rise to the surface in all of our exchanges.

November 11: Mercury enters Scorpio. Mercury returns to Scorpio closely after the New Moon assisting us in reviewing situations more deeply so as to discover helpful information that we might otherwise have overlooked.

November 15: Mars turns retrograde in Cancer. The sign of home and family is agitated by an extended transit of Mars during the holiday season. It’s best to keep a safe distance from those who are not wishing us peace or goodwill as we circulate among social events.

November 22: Sun enters Sagittarius. After 4 weeks of delving into the watery depths of our emotions, the Sun arrives in buoyant Sagittarius. We find ourselves celebrating in many and varied ways as the holiday season officially gets under way. ‘Tis the season to be jolly, and Jupiter is sure to lend a hand as it is joined by the Sun to complete a one year visit in its own sign.

November 23: Uranus turns direct in Pisces. Uranus steps forward bringing changes to our hopes, dreams, and wishes as it transits dreamy Pisces. Our hearts are our best barometers for assessing where we stand during the many changes in the emotional weather of Pisces’ currents.

November 24: Full Moon in Gemini. Travel and communication are accented as the Moon in Gemini shines brilliantly in opposing the Sun in Sagittarius. A good time to take extended trips and reach further than you normally might have planned

ASTRO EVENTS OCTOBER 2007

October 2007

October 7-8: Venus enters Virgo. The passage of Venus through Virgo brings grace to our health, work, and even our relationships with pets. We are reminded that we can be of better service to others after we have attended to our own personal needs and well being.

October 9: Jupiter in Sagittarius square Uranus in Pisces. Unexpected opportunities and windfalls may manifest as pleasant surprises, as the planet of fortune brushes with planet of sudden changes.

October 10-11: New Moon in Libra. A New Moon in the sign of relationships wants to make friends and begin new partnerships, but this year the process may be a bit frustrating as Mercury turns retrograde. It’s best to take our time and find consolation in knowing that anything worth having is worth waiting for.

October 11-12: Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio. Mercury steps backwards for the next 3 weeks, so pay close attention to details and communications to help ensure that you are treated rather than tricked this Halloween.

October 19: Chiron turns direct in Aquarius. After five months in retrograde, Chiron moves forward to remind us of the tender areas not only in ourselves but in the greater social order. Where are the wounds that must be healed in order to enjoy a happier existence both personally and collectively on this planet we call earth?

October 23: Sun enters Scorpio. The second month of autumn officially begins with the Sun’s entry into Scorpio. The falling of leaves and the final harvests are conspicuous reminders that even nature takes time to rest from her work.

October 25: Full Moon in Taurus. The days may be getting shorter, but the nights will be brighter under the Full Moon during the last week of October. This is an especially enchanting time to put gardens to bed.

October 31: Neptune turns direct in Aquarius. Our collective consciousness reawakens as Neptune moves forward in Aquarius after five months in retrograde dreamland. Something greater is at work in the social order prompting us to become much more aware of our interrelatedness during the next six months.

Note: Astro Events dates are based on Pacific Daylight Time.

THE VIRGO CYCLE

This year’s Virgo cycle has every indication of being more spectacular than even the best fireworks display. A total lunar eclipse in Pisces on August 28th sets the tone for the final month of the summer season. The lunar eclipse opposes Saturn as it completes its 2 year passage through Leo, and is followed by a solar eclipse that will greet Saturn’s return to the sign of Virgo for the first time since 1980. The combined effects of both eclipses are likely to stir up emotions for anyone with an emphasis in the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius. This is a good period to be mindful of our health by consciously maintaining a balance between our work and personal well being. Saturn’s tour through Virgo during the next 2 years will insist that we be realistic in dealing with any imbalances that surface in our awareness during this eclipse cycle.
Pluto turns direct in Sagittarius on September 7th after 5 months of retrograde motion. Pluto’s step forward adds fuel to the changes already in the air with the eclipses and Saturn’s arrival in Virgo. As if the Virgo cycle isn’t already busy enough, the solar eclipse on September 11th will closely oppose Uranus, the planet of unexpected changes, and square expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius. This T-square alignment suggests something greater than any one individual’s experience, and could very well signify a collective initiation. An ominous parallel exists between this solar eclipse and the transformative societal events of September 11, 2001: The solar eclipse will occur on September 11, 2007 at 5:31 am just before dawn on the Pacific Coast of the United States. This timing places the eclipse within a fraction of a degree of the exact same longitude of the Sun’s position at 18 degrees Virgo on the morning of the infamous “911” wake up call in 2001.
The 2007 Virgo cycle even saves some its fireworks for a grand finale T-square between the Sun in Virgo and a combustible opposition of Mars in Gemini and Pluto in Sagittarius during September 20-21. Perhaps now we can all get some rest?

AUGUST NEW MOON thru LUNAR ECLIPSE

August 12: New Moon in Leo. Transiting Neptune closely opposes this month’s New Moon in Leo, so our creative energies might best be channeled through more spiritual or abstract expressions. This new lunar cycle takes on added significance as it culminates with a total Lunar Eclipse on August 28th. The seeds we sow today have greater potential to blossom in unexpected ways.

August 13-14: Sun and Mercury in Leo oppose Neptune. We find ourselves challenged to be clear in our communications as both the Sun and Mercury oppose misty Neptune. This could serve as a good occasion to transcend thoughts and words by meditating to join with others on a more universal wavelength.

August 19: Mercury enters Virgo. Our thoughts become more focused as Mercury completes its stay in Leo and its opposition to Neptune by entering the precision oriented sign of Virgo. Mercury in Virgo provides us with a window of opportunity to attend to any details that may have slipped through the cracks during the past 10 days.

August 23: Sun enters Virgo. This year’s Virgo cycle begins innocently enough, but closer inspection indicates that there will be more happening than the normal routines of returning to school and work from our summer vacations. Virgo’s precise circuits will be subjected to multiple tests with two strongly aspected eclipses and Saturn’s return to this sign for the first time since 1978. Our work and how we offer our services could very well change within the next month. This very active Virgo cycle will also remind us to be conscious of our nutrition and health.

August 28: Total Lunar Eclipse. The Virgo cycle begins with its own fireworks display under a total Lunar Eclipse squaring Mars and Jupiter. The unique brilliance of this Full Moon is just the opening salvo in what promises to be a very dynamic four weeks of celestial activity. It’s a good time to remember that change is inevitable and that it could happen more quickly than we thought and in ways that we might not expect.

ASTRO EVENTS FOR SEPTEMPER 2007

September 2: Saturn enters Virgo. Saturn completes its two year journey through Leo and appropriately begins its work in Virgo, the sign of work, on Labor Day weekend. For the next two years and two months, Saturn will be making us aware of what works and what doesn’t in our expression of work and how it affects our health and well being.

September 5: Mercury enters Libra. We have the opportunity to become diplomats in our closest relationships as Mercury enters the sign of harmony and balance amidst two significant eclipses. By choosing our words carefully, we are more successful in reducing any tension in the air.

September 7: Pluto turns direct at 26 deg 18 min Sagittarius. Transformative Pluto moves forward after 5 months of retrograde in the pioneering sign of Sagittarius. This autumn, Pluto and Jupiter will be working closely together to ensure that our beliefs about the world have broadened sufficiently to embrace the many changes to come after Pluto enters Capricorn in January.

September 8: Venus turns direct at 16 deg 35 min Leo. The love that may have been elusive during the past six weeks now has an opportunity to reemerge as Venus steps forward in the sign of the heart. It’s not too late for a summer romance as 15 days still remain in the season.

September 11: Partial Solar Eclipse at 18 deg Virgo. The solar eclipse on September 11 will closely oppose Uranus, the planet of unexpected changes, and square expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius. New beginnings and unexpected changes are a foregone conclusion during the remainder of the Virgo cycle. Even the best laid plans are subject to revision as we step into the unpredictable currents of this significant lunation.

September 21: Mars in Gemini opposition Pluto in Sagittarius. The likelihood of an end of summer fireworks display is heightened as Mars and Pluto square off against the Sun. It’s one thing to be a spectator at a safe distance, and quite another to be in the arena where the action is taking place.

September 23: Autumn Equinox Sun enters Libra. The arrival of autumn with the Sun’s entry into Libra should bring a welcome sense of relief after all the activities and events of the last month of summer. The Libra cycle provides us with an opportunity to restore harmony and balance in ourselves and our relationships.

September 27: Mercury enters Scorpio. We think more deeply about what really matters to us and see below the surface in all our communications as Mercury passes through Scorpio.

September 28: Mars enters Cancer. The movement of Mars through Cancer will amplify the sensitive cores of our inner selves. Positive vulnerability can lead to deeper and more fulfilling relationships, while projections of unresolved feelings might distance us from those who bump into our tender buttons.
